... well, sort of.|
What indication does canon give, if any, that anything can be done by mental control in Atlantis?
For example, in fics, John is forever locking doors, unlocking doors, adjusting room temperatures, and operating showers with just a thought.
In canon, I know that the jumpers present equipment/displays based on the clear intent of gene holders (often a stated desire or indication). I know that all sorts of areas lit up and doors opened when the expedition first arrived, implying (the advanced Ancient equivalent of) motion sensors; in "Hot Zone", the city's quarantine protocol exercised greater control over doors, only permitting them to open for biohazard-suited personnel. And there's the ability to initialize systems, which seems to require the gene, touch, and an intent to activate (see the chair or Rodney's personal protection device).
Is the whole mental control thing supported in canon, a wild extrapolation of the jumpers, or pure fanon?
